Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind Project
We will be hosting a Community Open House to learn more about the project on August 22nd from 11 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Tracadie Fire Hall. We will have a grand opening by a community elder, with catered food throughout the event. For entertainment, we will have music and games for everyone, including washer toss, cornhole, and arts and crafts for kids. There will also be two shuttles to the site for a brief tour at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Port Hawkesbury Paper (PHP), through its sister organization, Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind (PHP Wind), is building the Goose Harbour Lake Wind Farm, located on lands in Guysborough County that are currently under license to Port Hawkesbury Paper for sustainable forest management.
The project involves the construction and installation of 24 Nordex N163-7.0 MW cold climate turbines at an 118-meter hub height with anti-icing system blade technology, producing a zero-emission sustainable electricity generation capacity of 168 megawatts. The lead building team is RES Canada Construction LP.
This green energy project will have an annual capacity equivalent to more than 60 percent of PHP’s required
electrical power demand. The PHP Wind project team has been organizing local community open houses and engaging with members of the Mi'kmaq communities who might have an interest in this project.
