Buyer
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Purchasing team. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for supporting and/or leading projects and initiatives to lower costs for materials and services, developing and improving supplier relationships, and driving work process improvements to reduce costs and increase productivity throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Source raw materials and/or alternate raw materials to meet production needs
- Develop, analyze and manage supplier on time delivery metrics
- Manage, develop and/or improve internal and external relationships
- Assist with optimization and reduction of inventory through supplier and procurement initiatives
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and service providers
- Supervise Stores Operators as required
Experience/Education Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a Business or related field
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management
- SCMP designation or current enrollment considered an asset
Skills/Competency Requirements:
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Experience with purchase order creation, contract principles, inventory management and transportation systems
- Exceptional computer skills with advanced experience in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
- Proficient with the RFP process
- Experience with ERP
- Inbound transportation experience
- Ability to work independently, patiently and proactively to find creative solutions in a time sensitive manner
- Knowledge and experience in developing vendor rebate programs and opportunities
- Strong understanding of pricing and financial information

HVAC Technician
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a Red Seal HVAC Technician to join our Maintenance team. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of HVAC systems throughout the site.
Responsibilities:
- Operation/maintenance/repair of chillers, cooling towers, air and water-cooled A/C systems, steam, electric and glycol heating systems
- Building automation systems and heat pumps
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems
- Using CMMS to find/order parts, provide detailed feedback on work orders
- Willing to work overtime, after-hours call-ins and shift work as needed
Skills/Competency Requirements:
- Ability to work safely as part of a team
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work setting
- Attention to detail and takes pride in quality workmanship
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills. Experience using a CMMS is considered an asset
Experience/Education Requirements:
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certificate of Trade
- Recent HVAC experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience in Maintenance is preferred

Laboratory Supervisor
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking an individual for the position of Lab Supervisor. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this position is responsible for the efficient, safe and reliable management of the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a relevant post-secondary degree and supervision experience in a fast-paced industrial or laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee lab operation and workflow; ensure standardized protocols and replicable results
- Maintain laboratory equipment including calibrations, repairs, preparation of standards, etc.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory testing.
- Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results
- Ensure lab safety standards and housekeeping requirements are met.
- Analyze laboratory and process data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Conduct microscopic analyses
- Design and recommend fit-for-purpose experiments and testing
- Lead small improvement projects that drive cost effective operation
- Oversee training of Quality & Environmental Technicians on testing procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
Skill/Competency Requirements:
- Experience managing people
- Strong analytical and continuous improvement mindset
- Demonstrated ability to document and streamline practices and procedures
- Ability to lead with a safety-focused mindset

Paper Machine Day Supervisor
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our PM2 team. Reporting to the PM2 Superintendent, this position is responsible for the safe operation of the PM2 operating floor. The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education and progressive experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or related industrial unionized environment. Supervision experience will be considered an asset. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the paper industry.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with the Maintenance, Shipping, Scheduling and other departments, as well as suppliers and consultants as required
- Ensure activities are optimized for safety and environmental compliance, quality, efficiency and cost control
- Support all safety and training programs
Skills/Competency Requirements:
- Ability to promote a safe work culture and leverage experience to drive H&S performance
