Warehouse Operator

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Warehouse Operator. This full-time position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a clamp truck to move and load paper products onto trucks and railcars.  It requires shift work (a rotational schedule of 4 days on/4 days off) and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.

Skills/Competency Requirements:

Experience/Education Requirements:

Woodroom 2nd Operator

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Operations team as a Woodroom 2nd Operator. The ideal candidate must be a team player who is capable of performing safely in a highly technical and flexible work environment. 

As a Woodroom 2nd Operator, you will work on wood processing equipment with the Woodroom 1st Operator to create wood chips for our papermaking process.  This position provides the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you are always on the move and able to work with your hands.  It requires shift work and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision. Also must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Woodyard Heavy Equipment Operator

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our Woodyard team as a Heavy Equipment Operator.  This full-time position is responsible for the safe and efficient unloading and management of wood products in PHP’s Woodyard.  It requires shift work and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.

Shift Manager

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking an individual for the position of Shift Manager.  Reporting to the Paper Machine Manager, this position is responsible for the efficient management of Mill Operations (Paper Machine 2, Thermal Mechanical Pulp, Woodroom, Woodyard, Effluent, Clay and Warehouse) on a 12-hour shift schedule. The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education and progressive experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or related industrial unionized environment, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a supervisory role.  Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the paper industry. 

Responsibilities:

  • Monday to Friday day shifts, majority of time spent in the Paper Machine Department
  • Night shifts and weekends, responsible for the entire mill and assist with the management of power dispatching communications with NSPI
  • Interact with the Maintenance, Shipping, Scheduling, and other departments, as well as suppliers and consultants as required
  • Ensure activities are optimized for safety and environmental compliance, quality, efficiency, and cost control
  • Support all safety and training programs
  • Lead the Mill Emergency Response Team.

Instrumentation Technician/Technologist

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Maintenance team. This position reports to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor and is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of production equipment and plant systems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting & making changes in DCS & PLC systems
  • Changing out & overhauling control valves
  • Installation/change-out of positioners and actuators on valves
  • Changing & calibrating transmitters, hydraulic valves and setting up hydraulic pumps
  • Willing to work shiftwork, overtime and after-hours call-ins as needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology (Instrumentation and Controls) background and/or Red Seal Instrumentation
  • Strong skills in Hydraulics
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is recommended
  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical schematics

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Maintenance team. This position reports to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor and is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of production equipment and plant systems.

  • Troubleshooting & replacing electrical equipment such as motors, transformers and VFDs
  • Troubleshooting & replacing components in PLC & DCS systems
  • Troubleshooting & installing field devices such as limit switches, transmitters
  • Repairing & replacing lighting throughout the plant
  • Testing for electrical isolation for operations and maintenance lockouts
  • Prioritizing and responding to calls from different operating departments
  • Willing to work shiftwork, overtime and after-hours call-ins as needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology (Instrumentation and Controls) background
  • Red Seal Electrical is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 8 years of recent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is recommended
  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Experience with understanding existing programs and making changes in DCS & PLC
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical schematics
  • Experience troubleshooting & installing 600VAC motor circuits and VFDs
