Maintenance Manager
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team. As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the maintenance program at our mill. You will lead a team of maintenance supervisors, planners and skilled tradespeople. As maintenance manager, you will have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of a new Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for budgeted equipment availability and working together with Operations and Engineering to meet this goal. This role also involves interfacing with Purchasing and Accounting, and other departments, as well as networking with suppliers, consultants and others as required.
Experience/Education Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have significant maintenance experience in conjunction with progressively increasing responsibilities in the field. Experience in a manufacturing or related industrial unionized environment with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the paper industry and third-party accreditations in maintenance and reliability management. Previous leadership experience and training are considered assets.

Construction & Operations Superintendent – Wind Energy

Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind is hiring a Construction & Operations Superintendent to lead turbine installation and oversee operations at the Goose Harbour Lake Wind Project. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and performance from construction through operations.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Phase:
- Lead turbine delivery, installation, and commissioning
- Oversee contractor performance and ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance
- Support substation, O&M, and collection system construction
- Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance
Operations Phase:
- Manage third-party maintenance and operations contracts
- Optimize performance using SCADA and condition monitoring
- Ensure environmental permit compliance and foster community engagement
Qualifications
- 10+ years in construction/maintenance leadership (renewables/infrastructure preferred)
- Background as wind turbine technician or in electromechanical trades
- Strong knowledge of WTG systems, SCADA, substations, and electrical systems
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., fall arrest, confined space)

Forestry Summer Students
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking individuals for summer employment opportunities to assist with various projects within our Woodlands unit. Flexible Work term: May 4 to August 28, 2026 (18 weeks)
As the largest Crown license manager in Nova Scotia, the PHP Woodlands Unit team is directly responsible for the forest management and sustainability of more than 500,000 hectares of forested lands and plays a significant role in private land forest management in Eastern Nova Scotia. Port Hawkesbury Paper also holds several environmental certifications.

Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a Millwright or Millwright Apprentice to join our Maintenance team. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of production equipment and plant systems.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment installation (pumps, motors, gearboxes, paper machine rolls etc.)
- Changing hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hoses, pumps etc.
- Replacing and tracking conveyor belts
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems
- Using CMMS to find/order parts, provide detailed feedback on work orders
- Willing to work overtime, after-hours call-ins and shift work as needed
Skills/Competency Requirements:
- Ability to work safely as part of a team
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work setting
- Attention to detail and takes pride in quality workmanship
- Knowledge of the alignment of machinery and the use of laser alignment equipment

Steam & Utilities Process Engineer
Port Hawkesbury Paper is seeking a Steam & Utilities Process Engineer with a strong foundation in data analytics to join our team.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is responsible for optimizing the mill’s steam generation, steam balance, condensate recovery, and utility systems through data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree (P.Eng preferred; EITs considered), with three or more years of experience in industrial utilities and a passion for leveraging data to drive performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze real-time and historical data from steam and utility systems to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to implement data-informed process improvements
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, PI System Explorer, and Excel to support operational decision-making
- Lead small-scale projects focused on thermal energy efficiency, cost reduction, and reliability improvements
- Support process safety assessments and ensure data integrity in risk reviews and compliance documentation
- Assist with P&ID updates, operating procedures, and management of change processes
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills (inc. with 3rd Parties)
- Ability to translate data insights into actionable improvements
- Familiarity with steam systems, HRUs, boilers, turbines, and utility distribution networks
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in data visualization and statistical analysis

Electrician
Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a Journeyperson Electrician to join our Maintenance team. This position reports to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor and is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of production equipment and plant systems.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting & replacing electrical equipment such as motors, transformers and VFDs
- Troubleshooting & replacing components in PLC & DCS systems
- Troubleshooting & installing field devices such as limit switches, transmitters
- Repairing & replacing lighting throughout the plant
- Testing for electrical isolation for operations and maintenance lockouts
- Prioritizing and responding to calls from different operating departments
- Willing to work shiftwork, overtime and after-hours call-ins as needed.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical Industrial Maintenance and Controls (2-year program)
- Electrical Red Seal – Industrial preferred
- Recent electrical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance in an industrial setting
- Experience with understanding existing programs and making changes in DCS & PLC
- Ability to read and understand P&ID’s, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical schematics
- Experience troubleshooting & installing 600VAC motor circuits and VFDs
